To Whom It May Concern – 2017
Under the title To Whom It May Concern, the mail art project BILAGA has invited nine artists to reflect on freedom of expression. Who can we address? Of what and to whom are we entitled to speak? Can we say whatever we want, and do we have something to say to one another?
Opening event: Wednesday 27 Sepember 6pm-8pm at Gothenburg Museum Bookshop
Between 26/9 – 1/10 we’ll be on the streets from 11am to 6pm at these locations:
Tuesday–Wednesday at Kungsportsplatsen
Thursday–Friday at Järntorget
Saturday–Sunday at Drottningtorget
The works are printed in an unlimited edition on A3 paper. All visitors are welcome to take a copy, fold it into an envelope, write an address of their choice, add a postage stamp and slip the work of art into a letterbox – to whom they think it would concern.
Participating artists: Fadwa Attia (Alexandria), Eva Björkstrand (Malmö), Christine Clemmesen (Copenhagen/Athens), Nadya Gorokhova (St. Petersburg), Gun Holmström (Helsinki), Raquel Meyers (Bilbao), Sophy Naess (New York), Poniweck (Brussels) and Catriona Shaw (Berlin).
The mail art exhibition is part of Gothenburg International Biennial Extended 2017
Supported financially by the City of Gothenburg and GIBCA Extended.
